HISTORY OF BARANGAY TINAGO
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
Once upon a time, there was a Muslim vessel visited in this place, unfortunately they experience unexpected typhoon hence, they decided to hide the interior port of the seashore so that they were able to shield in this place.
The Muslim ask the inhabitants the name of the place. The inhabitants answer the name “TINAGO”
Maybe because of this place is located along the seashore of interior part of the coastal that gets its named.
The name “TINAGO” is handed down the recent time. The dialects are visayan, the climate is warm.
BARANGAY TINAGO PROFILE
Barangay Tinago has a total land area of 16, 3142 hectares, the barangay category is a rural land classification is a coastal and agricultural and classification is a coastal and agricultural economic source of agricultural and fishing. The total income of the barangay is three million. It composes of 1,038, 632 females and 406 males, The total families 285 and total household of 272. There is a total voter of 667, there are 112 senior citizens.
Barangay Tinago has social services and infrastructures namely ALS Center, Day Care Man Power Development Center, Heath Station, Corn mill, Basketball Court, Alvarico Warehouse, Carmelite College, Carmelite Convent, JCAS Dormitory, Purok Centers and Waiting Shed, Fish Cage of SAAD and CFAR and RIC.
Barangay Tinago composed of seven puroks namely: Purok Nangka, Purok Kamatabwab, Purok Tugas,Purok Eba, Purok Kawayan, Purok Atis and Purok Kapitsula. “Tabau” mangrove belongs to Purok Kamatabwan, it’s as natural forest. The main timber is Matabo Tree and has nipa and wild animals like snakes, birds and other wild animals. It has three atabay namely: kaingoy,kangbobo and kaorog. In Purok Kamatabwan there is a cave, in Purok Kawayan it has one atabay namely Kangtete. In Purok Atis and Purok Eba there are 29 HH and 105 people living near the shore.
The major source of income is farming, and fishing and other source is the livestock like cow, goat, and other animals.
